In his endless pursuit of progress, man has built around him a Machine. It is a construction of utmost magnificence, but though man is its operator, subsistence, and champion, he relishes in the success of his own creation and becomes a slave to it, bound in perpetuity to its artificial nature of necessity. This is not some fantasy vision of a future world, it is right here and now, all around us the Machine is an archetype of the world that chases after money mindlessly. Just what is this economic betterment we all strive for? Bigger homes, brighter children, healthier lives everything in the definition of a modern society is tied down to the concept of money, so much so that it is ingrained within us all that such a reality is the true purpose of life. From the point we are "mouldable", lives are planned, expected and demanded as mere assets and investments towards the greater advancement of humanity. We become blindly driven by those around us and even ourselves to succeed within the framework of this Machine, expending all strength, emotion and commitment to ensure its eventual continuation.
Society shapes us to live by the rules of money, yes. Money is the system by which humanity labels the worth of a human. But I feel that we also live by our natural instincts, and thus we love and feel good things. We still naturally like forests and kittens. So we are living by two rules: Money, and the love of what is left of our natural instincts. Once our natural instincts are replaced completely by machinery, we will simply not feel a thing. Thus the end of the human race. We will still be around, but emotionless. Essentially we will be walking machines, with organic organs.
That is only one scenario, and a pessimistic one at that.
I see good things ahead. Maybe not in my lifetime, maybe not until the sun burns out. But I see good things.
Take all of the infinite complexities of the universe and you are left with far too much information. You just have a bunch of questions.
But if you minimize all the chaos and theories, and look to simplicity, you can see that all our problems can be reduced to a child lost in a forest. He might live, he might die. As this child, we must keep looking for our parents. Keep seeking salvation of our emotions and morals.
We might live. We might be lovely peaceful beings one day.
Right now though... We are a mix of positive, negative, healthy, unhealthy, spiritual, etc.
We are testing out this earth we have been put into. When we figure out that fighting existence doesn't help us, we will become at peace with it.
Such as a child learns respect for their demanding mother. We will respect existence. Otherwise it will kill us.
I personally want to see the day when humanity is celebrating life - in a blissful way. In peace and eternal glory.
But right now - we must endure and each be a role model for one another. We have nothing else.
Personally, I've chosen Christianity as my key to salvation. To morality. To avoiding becoming a machine. To each his own, but I don't think the future will only consist of people worshiping money... Money being productivity and advancement. I think there is more to life than science. More to existance than any human could possibly imagine.
We are about to have our eyes opened. By something big...I hope. Something that will change us for the better. Hope and faith is all I have to go by, and it is what makes me human.
Very impressive! Made me think deep thoughts. Which is rally good since I have a tendency to become too obsessed with the small and insignificant things in life
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant.
